Drains
and septic systems
Waste materials in drains and septic systems are mainly
made up of the organic constituents of food; carbohydrates,
proteins, fats and fibres. Natural disposal of these
organic wastes depends on bacteria.
Waste
material is mostly insoluble solids and colloidal suspensions
which bacteria cannot ingest. Dissolving of the solid
waste occurs outside the bacterial cells through the
action of enzymes that are secreted by the bacteria.
Enzymes, or biocatalysts, are produced by all living
cells. Enzymes speed up specific biological reactions
that split starches, fats, and proteins into small molecules.
Bacteria sense the presence of these small
molecules and turn on their enzyme making machinery
to break down more starch and proteins. This can continue
until all large organic material is gone and all waste
is recycled. XYMOBACT is formulated to give the
bacteria in XYMOBACT a kick start to switch on
their enzyme engine and start digesting waste faster.
The enzymes in XYMOBACT in addition to aerobic
bacteria are capable of cleaning plumbing systems by
digesting organic blockages. XYMOBACT accelerates
the natural biological decay of organic wastes in home
septic systems.
